High School Excursions

Half Day School Excursion Programs -  High School Excursion 

Discover the world at The Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, a 2hr School Excursion. Learn about sustainability, Chemical Free farming and recycling. Learn how to reduce your waste by worm farming/composting. Experience green energy, fossil fuels and visit MCSL’s chickens, pig and sheep. Let’s go on a scavenger or a bug hunt through MCSL’s vegetable gardens or make a paper pot and plant a seed to take home.


Vegetable Garden Scavenger Hunt  – Program includes learning about recycle, reduce and reuse for  School groups. The group will tour the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) site learning about sustainability, gardening, reduce, and reuse. Let’s go on an interactive sustainable scavenger hunt through MCSL’s Vegetable garden, farm and Eco Buildings.  Is your special place sustainable?

 

Bee + Other Pollinators Excursion- Program includes learning about recycling, reduce and reuse for School groups

The group will tour the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) site learning about sustainability, gardening, reduce, and reuse. Say hello to Lulu the pig, Bella the Sheep and Marco the Rooster. Learn all about European Bees, their environment, why are they called pollinators, growing bee friendly plants, how to become good bee keeper in the garden. Learn all about Native Bees and Other pollinators and their environment.

 

Food and Water - Program includes learning about recycle, reduce and reuse for  groups. The group will tour the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) site learning about sustainability, gardening, reduce, and reuse. Learn about MCSL’s aquaponic system and how we use water and animals to grow food plants.

 

Compost & Mini Beasts- Program includes learning about recycle, reduce and reuse for  School groups. The group will tour the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) site learning about sustainability, gardening, reduce, and reuse. Learn about Compost systems and mini beasts in our compost and how they reduce food waste.

 

Worms & Mini Beasts-Worms-Program includes learning about recycle, reduce and reuse for School groups. The group will tour the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) site learning about sustainability, gardening, reduce, and reuse. Learn about worm farms and mini beasts in our worm farm and how they reduce food waste.

 

 Bush To Plate- (run by a trained bush tucker chef)-Program includes learning about recycle, reduce and reuse for  School groups. The group will tour the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) site learning about sustainability, gardening, reduce, and reuse. Learn about MCSL’s edible bush tucker food grown in our garden and undertake a cooking class straight from the bush tucker garden. ( Small groups only) 

 

 Waste and Recycling- Program includes learning about recycle, reduce and reuse for 6-12yrs School groups. The group will tour the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living (MCSL) site learning about sustainability, gardening, reduce, and reuse. Learn how to make a paper pot and plant a vegetable seedling/seed to take home.

Price: $250.00 per excursion up to 25 students. $10.00 per student thereafter


 

Full Day School Excursion Programs--High School/TAFE or Uni Excursion 

Discover the Sustainable world at The Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, a 4hr School Excursion.


Sustainable LivingLearn all about Sustainability and cool ways to Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Learn about Composting, Worm Farming, Reducing Rubbish and making a newspaper pot with a seedling.

 

 

Special Requirements:

  • Enclosed footwear (NO THONGS OR SANDALS)

  • Appropriate clothing especially if cold or wet, and sunscreen and sunhat

  • Students will need to bring their morning tea and lunch.

   Cost:  $500 for 25 student and $20 per student thereafter
